What? Secret Woodland Firefighting Skills Day
Where? Pick Up From outside North Greenwich Underground Station
When? Saturday 26th October 2019
Join us at a Secret Woodland in Kent for this brilliant day! Base Camp is located deep within a stunning woodland and feels like you are a million miles from civilisation. We will drive you through the Woodland in the Land Rover to Basecamp, which is a large Canopy situated in a clearing in the trees. Protected from the elements under the canopy, you will learn how to start a fire using various techniques, including using cooking ingredients, ancient primitive friction techniques… and a mobile phone! (Who knew?)
 
What? SELMEC Meccano Show 2019

London’s most popular Meccano Show returns to Eltham United Reformed Church for its 41st year! See working models of cars, cranes, trains, funfair rides and more, all built from Meccano, the famous construction toy invented by Frank Hornby in 1901. Build your own model and enter it into our Creative Challenge for the chance to win a prize. Buy Meccano parts from the dealers and win prizes in the raffle. What? Halloween Family Fun

What? New Scientist Live - The World’s Greatest Science Festival

New Scientist Live will take you on an incredible, inspiring journey of discovery with things that really do make you go ‘wow!’. A great family day out, there are over 150 exhibits, interactive features and events that reveal the science secrets that have changed (and will change) our world. Check out the newly 3D printed Iron Man-like Jet Suit – flying tips and demos by its inventor pilot. Join in the rocket building workshop with the help of experts from the National Space Centre. Experience walking on the moon with the spectacular interactive Museum of the Moon and watch the Apollo story in the pop-up planetarium. For thrill seekers there’s the VR roller coaster, animal lovers can get up close to the world’s most incredible creatures and tech fans can get involved in AI, twitterbots and have a selfie with a robot!
 
What? Lost Hours Walk - Calm
Where? Greenwich to Oval and back again
When? Saturday 26th October 2019
CALM are bringing together hundreds of supporters on the streets of Central London to campaign against struggling in silence, against being alone, against living miserably and above all against suicide. The night time walk will start at 11pm and will offer two routes – one ten mile route from Greenwich to Oval and one 20 mile route from Greenwich to Oval and back again. The Lost Hours walk is an opportunity to deal with grief differently and defiantly. CALM aims to smash the silence around loss, and to provide a platform to remember our sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers and friends out on the streets of London.
